Powder Coating

Powder coating is a high-performance alternative to galvanizing. Low molecular weight solid resins are subjected to elevated temperatures that cause them to melt, flow and chemically cross-link within themselves to form a tough, attractive and consistently finished protective coating. Powder coating provides resistance to abrasion and long-term corrosion protection that adds service life and aesthetic value.

Powder coatings provide the ultimate in durable, attractive finishes. Powder coat colors are chemical, corrosion, and abrasion resistant and enhance your pole's aesthetic appeal.

Usona has developed the technology to powder coat wood.  One of Usona’s largest customers is  a large international furniture manufacturer.  Usona processes over one million wood bases per year for their reclining chair line.

Fluidized Bed:  Usona provides both spray and fluidized bed powder coating.  Fluidized bed enables the finish to have a much thicker coat and withstand 1000 hours salt spray testing.  The average coat thickness for this process is 10-15 mils.  Standard spray thickness is 3 to 5 mils.  A large portion of Usona’s business in Fluidized Bed is from the wire industry.  Usona processes 65000 wire shelves per month for the refrigeration industry.  Usona is NSF Certified (Refrigeration Industry Requirement).
